Michelin-starred Restaurants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

The 2022 selection of the Michelin Guide Dubai was the first-ever edition of the Michelin Guide in the Middle East, soon followed by the selection of Abu Dhabi restaurants. The UAE is now home to a pair of two-star restaurants and nine one-star restaurants in Dubai and three one-star restaurants in Abu Dhabi.
Restaurant
A chic Japanese restaurant awarded with a Michelin star for finesse and precision in their well-constructed and beautifully presented dishes. The Michelin guide especially recommends the red shrimp, imported like most of the seafood in 99 Sushi Bar from Spain — the native country of the owners.

As the name suggests, the restaurant is the project of celebrity chef Jose Alillez, and it is your diasappoint-proof introduction to the contemporary Portuguese cuisine with plenty of dishes beyond the egg tarts to try. (But also the egg tars).

In addition to the conventional diner format, the location also offers an adults-only rooftop spot with an infinity pool, a bar, and a special menu.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel1, 75a streetJumeirah 1, Jumeirah, Dubai

Located in a modern villa-turned-restaurant, this place takes open fire cooking very seriously.

With a huge open kitchen and grill with a massive firewood stock (they use an array of wood types for extra flavours here), the place offers a wide range of dishes to try, from meat and seafood to vegetarian options — the grill does not discriminate. And make sure to leave room for dessert! You really don’t want to come to this kind of kitchen to miss out on a burned cheesecake.

Authentic in the best way, this Japanese cuisine restaurant is a very special gastronomic destination. Enter the minimalist interior, take one of the nine seats at the counter, and let Chef Masahiro Sugiyama work his magic for you. In Japan, they call it Omakase — ‘I leave it up to you’: you trust the chef to select dishes for you, and with the freshest and finest ingredients imported directly from Japan, your dinner at Hōseki truly becomes a delightful, one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Located in the luxurious Armani Hotel, the destination offers an Italian cuisine experience in its most exquisite form. High ceilings, marble flooring, very (very!) attentive service are all add to the sense of occasion. The menu is quite vast with various Italian takes on meat and seafood, as well as such Italian culinary staples as risotto and pasta. You can also go for one of the degustation menus for a full Armani experience.

A member of a global brand, Hakkasan Dubai brings its joyful take on contemporary Cantonese cuisine with a friendly approach and loungy vibe. Take one of the booths behind one of the lattice screens — these are particularly cozy. The friendly staff will gladly give you pointers on flavours and level of spice, so don’t be shy to ask for recommendations (and make sure to ask your waiter about the Dubai specials). Or simply go for one of their signature dim sam platter — you can never go wrong with those.

There was no way that such an iconic hotel as Burj al Arab wouldn’t have one of the Michelin-star restaurants located in there. Sitting on the 27th floor of the famous building, Al Muntaha offers fine French cuisine with a Mediterranean twist to feast upon while overlooking the gorgeous view. The head chef Saverio Sbaragli has worked in several Michelin-starred restaurants, so you can be sure that everything on the menu is worth your attention. The degustation options are also available. And yes, there are truffles and caviar on the menu — how could they not?

Torno SubitoItalian restaurant

If you crave high quality Italian food but feel a bit intimidated by or simply not in the mood for posh, Torno Subito is the one Micheline-approved place for you. It’s quirky, vibrant retro vibe of the 1960's Italian Riviera is the perfect entourage for the menu bursting with colour and flavours. If your first instinct would be to order pasta — do it! The selection is great, and there are of course vegetarian options. There are also special offer menus such as Ladies’ night sets or Sunday lunch — but you’ll need to book those in advance.

OssianoUnderwater restaurant

Located in the basement of the Atlantis Hotel, this restaurant is an underwater palace dream come true. The floor to ceiling windows look into the hotel’s famous aquarium and its inhabitants. One might even say the place is drowning in all the marble, seashell shapes, plenty of sparkle and possibly every shade of blue, azure and turquoise — a bit extra, perhaps, but you gotta admire the commitment to the theme. Naturally, the menu is all about the fruits of the sea — fish and seafood, all sustainably sourced. The immersion pinnacles at Ossiano’s deeply conceptual tasting menus — or rather stories of the ocean told with food.

Indian cuisine is one of the most popular ones in Dubai, so it is only natural that at least one of the restaurants ends up in the Michelin guide. The dining room is not too spacious with 20 seats, friendly and inviting interior and an open kitchen. Instead of the usual menu, the Studio offers immersive multi-course degustation dinners showcasing flavours in both traditional and creative forms — such as ghee roast crab with burnt cinnamon or tandoori chicken dumplings. There is also a fully vegetarian menu available.

This Michelin-acclaimed Italian cuisine restaurant is located at Bulgari Resort Dubai, and that's really quite self-explanatory. The interior is elegant to the core, with a chic combination of dark furniture, wooden floors and glass decor. The menu is personally curated by Michelin-starred Italian chef Niko Romito with highlights on fish dishes and, of course, the pasta. There is also a degustation menu for a full Michelin-worthy experience.

As they say about themselves, STAY is classic French dining at the highest level. That sums it up pretty well: the luxurious property with tropical gardens and a private dock serves as a perfect venue to showcase Chef Yannick’s culinary excellence. The menu changes seasonally, and the presentation fits the entourage with the balance of sophistication and appetency. Go for the degustation menu for the ultimate dining experience.
