Tucked in between an Afghani bakery and an old launderette, High Joint Burger is only for those in the know. The tiny space offers four beef patties (each freshly minced every day with hormone- and antibiotic-free Angus), two chicken burgers, fries and chicken wings on the menu. Every dish is fantastic but start with the Millionaire’s High – a beef burger topped with Provolone cheese, Portobello tempura, pickled onions and truffle mayo in a light potato brioche bun. Vegetarians can try the loaded fries topped with parsley, ranch dressing, chives and high sauce – just ask them to remove the crispy bacon bits. With one counter and five stools, the homegrown burger joint has become a favourite with the region’s most serious foodies, and you’re likely to find yourself surrounded by fellow smug diners, all eating by the side of the quiet residential road.
