I recently visited ST beauty ans a guest of the hotel and I’m incredibly disappointed and concerned about what I witnessed.
From the moment I walked in, it was apparent that a heavily pregnant employee was under considerable strain. She was responsible for hair washing, which, given her condition, seemed extremely inappropriate. Watching her bend over the basin multiple times to wash clients' hair was not only uncomfortable but also deeply unsettling. Hair washing is physically demanding even for someone who isn’t pregnant, and it was clear that she was struggling. There were other employees present who could have easily taken over this task, but for some reason, they were not asked to step in.
I understand that everyone has responsibilities in their job, but it’s unacceptable to put someone in such a vulnerable condition through strenuous work. This goes beyond poor management; it’s a complete disregard for the health and well-being of an employee. A pregnant woman should not be forced to perform physical labor that could potentially harm her or her baby, especially when there are other staff members who can handle those duties.
Moreover, this situation made me question the overall work environment of the salon. If management is willing to push a heavily pregnant woman to the brink, what other practices are going on behind the scenes? It’s clear that the welfare of employees is not a priority here, and that’s a major red flag for any business, especially one in the service industry.
The entire experience left me feeling uneasy and upset, and it overshadowed any positives that the salon might have offered. I strongly urge others to think twice before supporting a business that treats its employees in such an appalling manner. It’s unacceptable, unethical, and downright wrong. I've been visiting my sister in Abu Dhabi every Christmas for the past four years, and each time, I make it a point to pamper myself at a local salon. This year, my sister recommended the ST Beauty Salon in Etihad Towers, a choice I now regret.
Walking into the salon, I was immediately taken aback by its size – much smaller than what one would expect, especially in a place as grand as Etihad Towers. The interior did nothing to dispel my initial disappointment. In a city known for its festive spirit, especially during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, I was surprised to find the salon devoid of any holiday cheer. This lack of festivity only added to the underwhelming atmosphere.
My experience took a further nosedive when it came to the service. The stylist assigned to me for my roots was juggling three other clients simultaneously. This multitasking led to me being left alone for extended periods, feeling forgotten and neglected. The salon’s chaotic environment did nothing to salvage the situation. The staff, particularly a hair-washer named Clarisse (or Klarrise), seemed disorganized and inattentive. She seemed totally out of it. Despite my protests, Clarisse twice carelessly drenched my face with water while washing my hair, ignoring my discomfort and continuing as if nothing happened. The overall scene was one of mayhem, with staff members banging and throwing items around – a far cry from the relaxing, pampering experience one expects from a salon.
This visit to the ST Beauty Salon was nothing short of a Christmas horror show. For those seeking a serene and festive salon experience in Abu Dhabi, especially during the holiday season, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. I, for one, will not be returning.
