Tourist Alert: Urban Glow Salon, Dubai — One of the Biggest Scams I’ve Experienced
I am writing this review in detail because no tourist should go through what I went through at Urban Glow Salon. What was supposed to be a quick, straightforward beard trim turned into a stressful and blatant scam designed specifically to exploit visitors.
I walked into the salon for a simple beard shape-up. The stylist acted extremely friendly at first—asking questions, chatting, trying to build rapport. What I didn’t realise is that this “friendliness” is a tactic they use to lower your guard. While talking, he started performing extra services without asking or explaining. Suddenly I found him applying products, suggesting waxing, trying to style my hair, pushing beard dye, using shampoos, creams, and even facial serums—all without my approval.
At no point did I request these add-ons.
At no point did they mention a price.
Everything was deliberately done to corner me later into paying.
When the service ended, things got even worse. At payment, they tried to quietly double-charge me: 150 AED charged twice. When I demanded receipts, they refused to give two proper receipts when they knew I had paid twice. Instead, they handed me a duplicate to cover their tracks. This alone shows they know exactly what they are doing, and it is part of their system.
The attitude of the staff changed instantly when I questioned them.
The friendliness disappeared.
They became defensive, dismissive, and tried to pressure me by insisting everything was “normal”.
This is not normal.
This is not a misunderstanding.
This is a scam operation targeting tourists.
I took immediate action and filed a complaint with Dubai Consumer Protection as well as the police. I now have an official reference number, and the case is logged. No visitor should be tricked by this kind of predatory behaviour—especially in a city that prides itself on professionalism and hospitality.
