I was riding a private vehicle taxi today, January 24, 2026. Around 6pm from “the beach “Jumerah 1 going to Al Gubaiba bus station together with my friend. Before the driver started the meter he let us type the location on his phone of our destination, when he check the location already he told us that it would be like 250aed because of traffic. I told him why he is already mentioning the rate when there is meter in his taxi. So my friend and I decided to change our drop off to al sobha metro station because we felt he is making money on us, we decided to just ride metro instead which is near in our current location. we came from Al Ain and just traveled to dubai for short vacation. While on the way he keeps offering us a ride all the way to Al Ain for a price of 450 aed. But we keep on insisting no to his offer, then he was not satisfied he tried to tell us he will drop us off to ibn battuta to check if there is bus there going to Al Ain we told him we know the way go to al ain and the station is in al gubaiba not battuta. When we reach to our destination at sobha metro station. He charged us 40 dirham which he showed us in the meter. He said it was with tax and because of trafic but we insist to him its not even far from our pick up point to the drop off, we told him he is making us money. But still keep on insisting we pay the said price. He was overpricing and a scammer. I took a photo of his plate number and receipt of the payment. We felt so disappointed and fooled.
