I visited a Lulu Exchange Branch at SHOP NO 15, GROUND FLOOR, LULU HYPERMARKET, AL BARSHA FIRST, DUBAI on 4 June 2023.
I tried to exchange 1000 swiss franks into aed.
Saged Vahir, who claimed to be the manager of the branch, told me that the system did not allow them to make the exchange because of my nationality.
When I asked him what was wrong with my nationality, he said "because you started a war in Ukraine".
I asked him for the Lulu exchage rules which prohibit "someone who started a war in Ukraine to use Lulu's currency exchange services", he shouted that I was not allowed to see it.
When I asked for his business card, he got very aggressive, run to me and asked with a rude voice why I needed his name. The bodyguard had to interfere because Saged shouted very loudly.
I have been a UAE resident for 3.5 years and have been exchanging currency at Lulu Exchange for 1 year, there has never been any issues with my nationality.
I have not started any war in Ukraine and I have nothing to do with it.
