The Umm an-Nar Tomb is a perfectly circular shape, measuring 13.85m in diameter. The grave chamber is separated into a western and an eastern half with each half divided into four corbelled units. Doorways allow for a passage from one chamber to another. Though it was looted in antiquity, we know from other graves of the same period that up to 300 corpses could have been interred in such a grave. The corpses were often buried with funeral adornments: necklaces, bracelets and beads as well as tools and weapons. Together with the smaller Umm an-Nar tomb near Jebel Faya, this tomb indicates that a settlerment of the Middle Broze Age must have existed in the near surroundings.
