Nestled in the Hajar Mountains, this hilltop fortress is one of the more prominent heritage sites. It dates back to the 16th century and was originally constructed as a defence against foreign invaders. A significant landmark in the country’s history, the clay-brick structure is easily recognisable via two distinct towers that provided the high ground for those keeping watch.
