Silk Floss Tree
This tree is more than 100 years old and belongs to the Malvaceae family. Silk Floss trees feature ornate flowers which bloom between February and May, as well as beautiful cone shaped thorns that cover the trunk and branches. The trunk is studded with thick conical prickles which serve to store water for dry seasons. Silk Floss trees grow fast in spurts when water is abundant, and sometimes reach a heigh of more then 25 metres.
